Masakado was the Inferno Scarlet Shogun and lieutenant to the Greater Fiend Doku. He was encountered by Ryu while crossing the bridge leading to the Clan Leader's residence during the initial attack on the Hayabusa Village. He is fought as a boss in Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden Black, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus.

Masakado appears as a horse-mounted, heavily-armoured, red samurai wearing a face mask and engulfed in flames.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma[]
Masakado played an active role in the assault on the Hayabusa Village, setting much of the Village ablaze, killing many Hayabusa Ninja and leading the main force of Samurai. He attacked the Dragon Ninja on horseback, alongside a group of spell casters, but was eventually brought down by the young Ryu Hayabusa on the bridge leading to the Clan Leader's residence.
Trivia[]
- In Mission Mode and higher difficulty settings he can be knocked off his horse. Once demounted he behaves like a normal samurai, but he deals heavy damage.
- He is named after a historical Samurai from the Heinan period, Taira no Masakado.
- Masakado is only depicted as being engulfed in flames in Sigma and Sigma Plus, whereas in previous versions he was only a red samurai.
